How hypertensive is your zip code?
In December, we are drilling down even further and looking at hypertension rates by zip code.
The majority of the top hypertensive zip codes are located in medium to large cities. As a group, these zip codes have an average population size of about 20,000 and an average medium HHI of $36,000. All show hypertension rates above 80%. By contrast, when we look at the 10 least hypertensive zip codes, most are not located in large cities, have a slightly larger population size (22,000) and a higher median HHI ($76,000) with 2 zip codes (Los Altos and Scottsdale) at over $120,000. All show hypertension rates below 50%.
