Heart Disease Is Lasting Threat to Breast Cancer Survivors
If you’re postmenopausal and a breast cancer survivor, you’ll want to pay attention to your heart health.
A new small study finds that postmenopausal breast cancer survivors are at a higher risk for developing heart disease, with problems popping up more than five years after radiation treatment and an additional risk persisting for as long as 30 years later. The key is to schedule a cardiology consultation once you are diagnosed with breast cancer and not losing sight of following up after cancer treatments are over. There is more detail on the study’s findings over at U.S. News & World Report.
