What ‘Netflix and chill’ may be doing to your health
Do you find yourself drawn to the comfort of your TV and couch?
During the summer heat, streaming TV services like Netflix and Hulu make it extra tempting to spend hours binge-watching TV from the comfort of your couch. While we’re all guilty of marathon TV sessions, research has shown that doing it overdoing it can pose serious long-term health risks – such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure.
The good news is that you can use streaming TV to your benefit. For many people, watching TV while on a treadmill or stationary exercise bike can make exercise more enjoyable. If you’d prefer to stay on the couch, try to set a time limit for screen time and break up your day with physical activities.
