Ultra-processed Foods Linked to Poor Heart Health

Quick and easy foods such as packaged snacks, sugary cereals, instant soup and sweet beverages may taste delicious, but they are doing more harm than good for your body.

These ultra-processed foods may leave people more prone to heart disease and early death than those who stay away from packaged goods. For instance, in a study of more than 105,000 adults, researchers found that for every 10 percent increase in the amount of ultra-processed foods people ate, their risk of a heart attack, stroke or other serious heart issue was 12 percent higher. The key? Opt for more whole foods. Check out Harvard Health Publishing for more.
